Perfectly-Aligned Hybrid Burrs with Bean Crusher for Clarity and Body
The system employs a set of 68mm conical burrs which are carefully calibrated to pre-crush the beans while stochastically creating just the right amount of fines (as conicals tend to), yielding the espresso-defining rich body and silky texture.
The conical burrs feed the pre-crushed beans to a set of factory-aligned 68mm flats which finish the grind by providing a highly uniform particle distribution. This provides great clarity in the cup.
Most grind particles are finished by the flats, enabling a uniform distribution, while just the right amount of fines leave the conicals and pass through the flats untouched. This way, you get to experience an espresso that has both body and clarity at the same time, punching way above this grinder’s price-range.
And yes, you are right, that means that coffee goes through 136mm of burrs before reaching your portafilter.

Designed for Single-Dosing
Flat burrs grinders need beans in the hopper to ensure uniform grinding, while conical grinders lack clarity. The Honne solves this issue as the conical burrs feed the coffee to the flat burrs, ensuring that all chunks spend the same amount of time between the 68mm flats and hence ensuring perfectly uniform grinding.
This unique architecture, coupled with the spinning burr-cleaner and the patent-pending, unique zero-retention module, the Honne is not adapted to single-dosing, but built for it.
Mean Retention of 0.02g Over 20 Repeated Shots
We tested it. Over twenty repeated grindings, we have seen a mean retention of 0.02g (from a 20gr dose). This is all thanks to the patent-pending zero-retention module, which, when turning off the grinder, spins the motor counter-clockwise for a second, pushing all the remaining coffee from the sides of the burrs out. This test was performed without using RDT.
Perfect Portafilter Distribution
The grinder distributes the coffee along the sides of the portafilter, in a donut-like shape. This, with a bit of WDT, enables a perfect coffee distribution throughout the portafilter, saving the shot from channeling and fulfilling the uniform extraction we are all looking for.
Low-RPM Cold Grinding to Save Precious Aromatics
Thanks to the hybrid burrs feeding the beans to the flats and the belt-driven system, the grinder is built to operate at no more than 500RPM. This means that the burrs and the grounds do not heat up during the grinding process, saving the aromatic oils from evaporating and preserving the rich flavors of your (hopefully) great coffee.

Each Honne is hand-made in the EU, in Craiova, Romania, by a team of master craftsmen who have shaped metal into precisely assembled machinery for decades. The all-metal grinder weighs 18kg, and you only have to touch it to feel its heft. The robust industrial design is not for everyone, but it is certainly eye-catching.
A Satisfying Workflow
Making great coffee is our passion, and we know the importance of tactility in the process. Hence, every touchpoint of the grinder has been carefully calibrated to provide a satisfying feeling of quality and heft. Adjusting the grind size using the locking wheel and the worm-gear mechanism feels like setting the time on a Swiss-watch. Turning on the grinder using the red switch feels like powering a piece of large industrial equipment. Locking the portafilter in using the sprung holders feels like fusing it with the grinder.
The Ease of the Frictionless Workflow
The Honne was built with ease-of-use in mind. The provided 3D-printed funnel makes pouring the beans easy without requiring you to open or close a cover and saving you from coffee beans flying out due to popcorning. Fixing the portafilter in using the sprung holders is frictionless, and the portafilter is held perfectly centered with the rubber gasket around the grinding chute. Thanks to the combined locking mechanism and worm-gear the grind will never change when you don’t want it to.
Even the mirror-like stainless steel bottom-tray is built to save you from ever having grounds spreading across your counter. It is easily removable to be cleared of the fallen coffee grounds.
After-Sales Support
Since the launch of the original Honne in 2017, we have built in a myriad of improvements using feedback from our customers. We added the worm-gear to improve grind-size precision, the stronger belt and geared wheel to ensure that the grinder does not jam under light-roasted beans, the mirror-like stainless steel top-cover and the zero-retention module for convenience. We will continue doing so as we receive more feedback from you!
We have made all of these upgrades retrofittable, so that all of our customers can always have the ultimate Honne experience.
